Course Description

Reading remediation is a constant concern among teachers cognizant of the value of reading skills to learn in the other content/subject areas. Although language and reading are taught as subjects within the K-12 system, the proper teaching of reading skills within a large class population may not effectively address the needs of other grade school students who may benefit from a personalized approach to learning how to become motivated and fluent readers.

This course is aimed at equipping language/reading teachers, free-lance language teachers/tutors, para-teachers, ALS mobile teachers and learning support aides with the basic skills and disposition to deliver personalized instruction towards improving basic reading skills and fluency within the school system’s reading remediation and/or summer bridging programs and most of which may be implemented through blended and online learning.
